What to do right now to have a successful travel business in 2022

While 2021 hasn’t turned out to be the wonderful utopia we all hoped for, I think everyone is hopeful 2022 will be a better year altogether.To help you get ready, I am sharing a checklist of items to do in the fourth quarter to prepare for 2022. Some of these are quick and easy tasks and some will take longer. Spending some time on these tasks now will reap benefits in 2022.Generally, the fourth quarter is a good time to focus on what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what you want to be different in the new year. If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting. If you want different results, you have to change things up.Here’s a tip to get the most out of this analysis and strategic planning: work with an accountability partner. You can share ideas, give one another feedback, and help keep each other accountable to commitments or deadlines. If you don’t currently have an accountability partner, just ask another agent to work with you.   • Does your website need to be updated?
  • IFO (Irresistible Free Offer): Update, change, or add
  • Does it tell your story and have your contact information?
  • Is it brand congruent (right colors, fonts, etc)?

Client List

  • Verify mailing and email addresses with clients
  • Sync your CRM and Autoresponder
  • Identify your top 20 clients and reach out to them directly – just to say hello and thank you

Social Media

  • Conduct an audit to see what topics are getting most engagement
  • Evaluate gain/loss this year
  • Does “About” section have your website and contact info?


  • Identify list building strategies for 2022
  • Evaluate current marketing channels for effectiveness
  • Negotiate/re-negotiate contracts


  • Fees: evaluate your fee structure and make changes for 2022
  • Identify most profitable partner/vendor
  • Identify least profitable partner/vendor

Digging into each of these items and then planning for how to make improvements for next year will go a long way to making your business less stressful, more profitable, and more fun!
