By: Sandy Saburn, CTIE[/caption]When this year began the travel industry was in a watchful state. We were still smarting from the bruises of 2020 and hoped that 2021 would be kind. While it was a roller coaster of ups and downs, there were more positives than negatives.Travel opened up for many international destinations and that ability to travel fueled the souls of many in the travel industry. Whether they were personally traveling or helping clients travel, they were thrilled to have more destinations to visit. For many advisors the flood of bookings was overwhelming. For others, the phone didn’t ring. For many, it was somewhere in the middle.During all of this, there was still canceling and rescheduling to deal with. Along with so many rules to decipher about what was required to enter each country.Through all of 2021’s ups and downs, travel advisors have been there for their clients. They have done far more work than they will ever be compensated for, but they did it to serve their clients. And those clients will remember that service, and they will come back and refer others. As we look forward to 2022, it is time for travel advisors to step into the sunshine and reap the benefits. All indicators point to a very strong year for travel and an unprecedented demand for the services of travel advisors. In my 20+ years in travel, I have never seen demand as strong as this for travel advisors and luxury travel advisors in particular. I cannot tell you what joy that brings me for the industry I love.My wish for each of you is that 2022 is your best year yet – both personally and professionally. You deserve it! Enjoy the journey!
